  • Green Smoothie in Paradise

    B and the kids and I have been relaxing on Maui for the past few days, and I decided to take a break from the fun to share a new green smoothie recipe. While on vacation I loosen up on my diet and enjoy some of the treats that are off limits at home — that being said, I still make a point to get my greens everyday. The easiest way to get greens is of course with a green smoothie. We are staying in a condo that has a fully equipped kitchen (yippie!) including a blender. While it is no Vita-Mix, with a few modifications to my Green Smoothie 2.0 recipe I was able to make it work.

  • Lessons from a Cruise Ship

    Last week B and the kids and I returned home from a 10-day cruise that we took with my parents. On our journey we visited 5 different countries, traveled through the Panama canal, walked between rows of banana plants, snorkeled in crystal clear waters, drifted down a jungle cloaked river and spotted monkies in the treetops.

    Days 6 & 7 were less of a challenge.

    The big question of ‘WHAT am I going to eat?’ has evolved to ‘Am I going to eat some nuts or seeds, a piece of fruit, a shake or throw together a veggie dish?’

  • Going Raw, Day 3

    I woke up starving on day 3.

    As I prepared Andrew’s lunch for school, a veggie burger with all the fixings (isn’t he the luckiest preschooler? :) ) I was so tempted to take a big bite! The sprouted grain bun and savory veggie patty….ahhhhhh.

    Day 2 started badly.

    At 3:30am Andrew came into our room and reacquainted us with his Raw food dinner…all over the carpet.

    Note to self: Don’t feed the kids Raw food.
