- Green Smoothie in Paradise
B and the kids and I have been relaxing on Maui for the past few days, and I decided to take a break from the fun to share a new green smoothie recipe. While on vacation I loosen up on my diet and enjoy some of the treats that are off limits at home — that being said, I still make a point to get my greens everyday. The easiest way to get greens is of course with a green smoothie. We are staying in a condo that has a fully equipped kitchen (yippie!) including a blender. While it is no Vita-Mix, with a few modifications to my Green Smoothie 2.0 recipe I was able to make it work.

- Favorite Spinach Salad
You’d never know by tasting this salad that it contains no added oil. While balsamic raspberry blush vinegar lends amazing flavor to this already bursting salad.

- Peach (or Mango) Sorbet in a Flash
There is something about ice cream that simply makes my kids go crazy.
At about 4pm every afternoon an ice cream truck drives down the main road behind the back wall of our property, playing a catching tune over loud speakers. As it so happens the kids and I are almost always out back at that time, with me in the garden and the kids in their sandbox. My kids have never gotten ice cream from an ice cream truck. They can’t even see the darn thing since our back wall is so high. But it never fails, whenever that truck passes by they both start screaming for ice cream.
This quick and nutritious fruit sorbet recipe comes in handy at times like those!

- Raw Onion Flat Bread
This flat bread is amazing. It basically tastes like onion rings — without all the fat, carcinogens and calories! While eating a raw vegan diet one of the things that I crave most is bread. While this bread isn’t light and fluffy like wheat bread, it certainly fills the void in a very delicious way. Top it with pesto, raw hummus or olive tapenade for a nutritious and delicious snack — or eat it plain on the side of a salad.

- Green Power Smoothie 2.0
Since creating the Green Power Smoothie a few months ago my morning recipe has slowly evolved. I’ve reduced the sweetness and have increased the nutrient content — the result is a mouth-watering smoothie that will make your cells vibrate with green energy. The kids have gotten so used to drinking their green smoothie each morning that Chloe now comes running when she hears the blender, yelling, “I want my green snooozie!”

- Amazing Savory Cashews
These nuts are crazy good. Perfect for mid-day snacking or chopped and thrown onto a salad. Make plenty, because these disappear quickly.
- Peaches & Cream
This dessert requires very little preparation and tastes almost too good for words. It’s a great recipe to use while entertaining, since the peaches need to sit in the dehydrator for 4 hours–put them in before your dinner guests arrive and prepare the sauce and keep in the fridge until chow time. To serve simply plate the peach halves and top with a spoonful of sauce and a sprinkle of fresh ground cinnamon. Use the sweetest peaches you can find, ripe and in season for the best possible flavor.

- Watermelon Candy
It never ceases to amaze me how much more delicious natural foods are than processed ones. This watermelon candy, which contains only watermelon and lemon juice, has such amazing and satisfying flavor. My kids love these!

- Cheesy Kale Chips
I love these chips because you get all the satisfaction of crunching on cheesy chips not only without guilt, but with the pleasure of knowing that you are getting all the benefits of kale. It’s full of fiber, vitamin A and calcium, so eat up!

- Strawberry-Blueberry Breakfast Bars
These bars are awesome. They are perfect for a quick snack or breakfast. My kids love them so much that one batch doesn’t last more than a week!

- Raw Taco Salad
While I’ve been dabbling with raw food preparation, B has been a great sport about trying out the raw meals. He’s honest about whether or not he likes something, and this taco salad had him raving. The Raw ‘Refried Beans’ are a fun addition, as well as the Raw Corn Chips.
- Green Power Smoothie
I started making this smoothie every morning for breakfast after reading chapter 3 of Victoria Boutenko’s book ‘12 Steps to Raw Foods — How to end your dependency on cooked food’. Boy, does she have some strong points as to why we should all consume a large helping of greens every day.
- Creamy Raw Dressing
This is a great dressing to liven up your salad or lettuce wraps!
- Raw ‘Refried Beans’
This is a crumbly filling for raw tortilla wraps, lettuce wraps or as a topping for salads, vegetable pastas or any other way you can think of to use it. My kids pull this out of the cupboard and eat it by the handful when I’m not looking. It’s just that good!
- Raw Corn Chips
Who doesn’t enjoy a bowl of crunchy chips? These chips are made with only raw, wholesome ingredients and are dehydrated rather than fried. Dip them in salsa and curb your naughty cravings.
- Raw Apple-Nut Cookies
These cookies are chewy, moist, and great to pack in your lunch or to take on-the-go. Raw cookies are extremely easy to make — there is a huge margin for error, since an extra few hours in the dehydrator won’t even make a noticeable difference (as opposed to an extra few minutes in the oven resulting in a tray of charcoal cookies).

- Raw Quesadillas
This was the first recipe that I made in my dehydrator, and it blew me away! This recipe gives you the flavor and texture of a real quesadilla but without the drawbacks of dairy. Make the zucchini wraps in the morning, so they can be in the dehydrator for at least 6 hours.

- Avocado Soup with Mango Salsa
Sometimes soup should be cold and refreshing, rather than hot and comforting. Avocado makes this soup amazingly creamy, and the salsa adds a nice kick of flavor.
- Raw Chocolate Ice Cream
This ice cream is extremely rich and delicious. You’ll never wish for dairy ice cream again!
